Being a church that honors life at any stage, Holy Trinity seeks not only opportunities to pray for our unborn but also has for the past two years provided ministry to the Shirley Grace Pregnancy Center in Berlin. The pregnancy center offers free and confidential services, centered on providing support to men and women who find themselves with either a crises pregnancy or people who just need help. Pregnancy tests are also available at the center, and an ultrasound machine is onsite that allows the moms and dads to not only hear the baby’s heartbeat but also to see the baby. Shirley Grace also offers counseling services for both before and after the baby is born. If a mother takes the educational classes offered, she can earn “money” which can be spent in their Baby Boutique. The boutique offers diapers, wipes, formula, blankets, clothing etc.
Thus far Holy Trinity has had a few people volunteer to work at Shirley Grace and our very own, Dr. Paula Rose serves on the Board of Directors for the Center. As part of our Lenten observance for 2012, Holy Trinity will be once again participating in Bottles of Blessings. We are encouraging each family to take a baby bottle and as part of their Lenten experience, make a donation, which will go towards supporting moms who need assistance with their pregnancies and / or newborn babies. All donations will be given to the Shirley Grace Pregnancy Center. Bottles of Blessings will run from February 26 – March 25. Last year, our very generous church family donated over $1,200.00 to the center and I am praying that we will be able to match or exceed that amount.
